I absolutely loved this story! It’s engaging, humorous, and unexpectedly heartwarming. A heartbroken young woman, a cab driver, and a pawnshop owner start out on a journey together from San Francisco to upstate New York, each for their own reasons. At the beginning, the cast of characters seems odd and disjointed, but as the tale goes on, each individual’s personality emerges along with their story, and the little group of travelers becomes a family. Their trip is fraught with adventures, some hair-raising, some hilarious, some thought-provoking. More situations arise after they reach their destination, and the ending of the story is filled with happiness and hope. This is a great novella for those who are tired of reading the same old, syrupy-sweet Christmas stories.Product details

I've been having a kind of rough Christmas this year and this story cheered me up immensely. Nobody changed so much it was unbelievable, but all three characters making the trip in the cab changed enough to start their lives in a new and happier direction. Exactly the message I needed to hear.
If you could use a life-affirming Christmas story, this is your ticket.
I chose to read "Christmas In Caterwaul Creek" at a very stressful time in my life, knowing that Kay Keppler's writing is full of humor. This title didn't disappoint. While I liked some of her other titles more (Zero Gravity Outcasts, Betting on Hope, Loving Lucy), this was a quick and happy read again populated with interesting characters.
